Bill's first Drawbot and Arduino code make's a star.

This week at FUBAR

Hacking REST web services with jQuery

Sunday 10/23/11   1PM - 4PM

In order to particpate in the Internet of Things it's important to understand the basic principals of REST based web services. This overview will help you determine what skills are needed for these kinds of projects, and run through a basic example of getting information into Thingspeak.com  and Pachube.com. Stanford Artificial Intelligence Course
Wednesdays 8:30PM - 10PM
Registration for the Stanford AI class is closed, but you can still participate by joining us at FUBAR Labs to watch lectures and discuss the course.  You are also welcome to attend if you have registered for the Stanford course and started working on your own.  We're a week into the class, but we would be happy to help you catch up if you want to join in.

Stanford University Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Online Course

This Week at FUBAR: Ham Radio Night Rescheduled, Stanford AI Class, DIY Circuit Board Fabrication Class

Amateur Radio Night Moved to Tuesday 10/18
Tonight's Amateur Radio Night cancelled.  Join us next week.
Interested in getting your Amateur Radio License?  Already a Ham and want to work with us on DIY radio projects? Come join us for Amateur Radio Night.  Will we be working HF frequencies? Building homemade antennas? Assembling Arduino controlled APRS kits? Your guess is as good as mine, so come find out on Tuesday the 18th!

Stanford Artificial Intelligence Course

At 8:30PM on Wednesday nights from October 12th to December 21st, our doors will be open to anyone enrolled in CS221: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, a course offered for free online by Stanford University.  Anyone is welcome to join us as we watch lectures, work on assignments, and discuss the course.  See http://www.ai-class.com/ for more information, and register for the online course here to participate (registration closes this week!). Note that this is not a class provided by FUBAR, we are merely providing resources and a common meeting place for anyone interested in self-guided study via the Stanford online course.

Circuit Board Layout and Etching - Make Your Own Arduino Shield

Sunday 10/16/11 1PM - 4PM

Students will learn to design, etch, drill and assemble a custom printed circuit board using Fritzing and the "Toner Transfer" method. Students will make their own LCD and Keypad "shield", compatible with the Arduino Microcontroller. Registration Required, Sign Up Here

Soldering Sunday: Hello Eggbot

Soldering Sunday goodness. Radioshack soldering kits were made. The Eggbot worked on the first try. The Makerbot made a Megaman cookie cutter, and a set of mini brass nuckles. Surface mount soldering, and lathing occurred. Thanks to Mark, Lindsey, David, Graham, Michael, Esther, Brian, and George.

5 New Classes! Arduino, Web Development, Custom PCBs, Beginner Electronics and More Arduino...

Announcing the return of our Intro to Arduino course, as well as four exciting new classes:

Intro to the Arduino Microcontroller

Sunday 10/9/11 1PM - 4PM

This class will introduce students to the Arduino Microcontroller – a powerful platform for developing hardware that interfaces with the physical world.  The class includes an electronics kit and an Arduino Microcontroller.

Basic Electronics

Saturday 11/5/11 1PM - 4PM

This class is for anyone who wants to take the first step into hobby electronics, or took a class in Arduino and would like to refresh their basic electronics knowledge.  We will teach you how to prototype simple circuits and help you to understand how they work.

Intro to the Arduino using Chipkit

Saturday 12/10/11 1PM - 4PM

This course will provide an introduction to microcontrollers and the Arduino environment.  Students will be using a chipKIT microcontroller, a very powerful Arduino-compatible microntroller that provides many advanced features not available on other Arduino-compatible boards. More information coming soon...

All of our classes are at our main location in Highland Park, NJ.  If you have questions, feel free to contact us at info@fubarlabs.org

Join FUBAR Labs at Maker Faire in NYC this weekend!

Hello!  FUBAR Labs will have a booth this weekend at Maker Faire in NYC September 17th and 18th!

Information on Maker Faire is available here: http://makerfaire.com/

There is lots to see, especially related to electronics, soldering, Arduino, 3D Printing, CNC, crafts, hacker spaces, and other Maker-related interests!

Maker Faire is family-friendly and at the New York Hall of Science, which is interesting enough to visit in and of itself.

Come join us!  Feel free to write back if you have any questions.  Certainly stop by and say "Hi!" at our table in the Hacker Space area, or at the Digilent booth where members Rick and Mark will be discussing Chip-Kit and multi-platform Arduino!

Hero-1 Restoration and CNC Kit Assembly

After a solid weekend of work, the Heathkit Hero 1 robot drive system is operating remotely via XBee.  Fubar member Adam constructs the table for a MyDIYCNC kit.
